“Pebble”
Once a solid mountain
balanced on shifting,
unpredictable plates,
shaken into piles of boulders.
Cracking under the summer sun
and invading frost,
breaking up,
tumbling down.
Dancing along a river bed,
miles of current,
rounding and softening.
Tucked into a blue jean pocket,
fidgeting fingers soothed,
reminded of a beautiful time.
